Charismatic, engaging and theatrical are terms all synonymous with Australian-Slovenian mezzo soprano Kristina Fekonja. Kristina honed her talent by studying at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne, where she featured as a soloist in many of the University’s ensembles, concerts and opera productions. She was also a scholarship recipient with Opera Scholars Australia and a Richard Divall Developing Artist with Melbourne Opera, where she made her professional stage debut singing Siegrüne in Die Walküre in Australia’s first regional production of the Ring Cycle.

Kristina then moved to Italy to work with the renowned singing teacher Sherman Lowe, which then led her to starting her international career in Germany, making her international debut singing Aksinja in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at Theater Hagen, and then working at the Bayerische Staatsoper in the chorus working with the world’s best operatic soloists, conductors and directors.

Kristina now resides in Berlin and is focussing on her career as a freelance soloist and chorister.
